Large size “cut and paste” silhouette of a portly gentleman with the impressed mark of “Thomas Creswick” in the lower right corner. Floor accented with water color pattern. Silhouette size is 6 1/4″ by 11″. Excellent original condition. No tears, regluing or excessive toning. Thomas Creswick was a noted English painter (1811-1869).

A very nice large size cut and detailed paint embellished silhouette of a gentleman holding a book. Beautifully executed details added to the initial cutting. Pasted on paper with a gray and black watercolor planked floor. Signed by Charles Samuel Herve II ( 1785-1866) with the stencil “HERVE Artist 172 Oxford Street” on the front. Also stencilled on the reverse side and on the original back board. Sight size is 10 1/2″ x 7 1/8″. Excellent condition with some uniform background toning. Presented in what is likely its original frame and backboard.

Very nicely done 1st half 19th C. hollow cut and watercolor/ink embellished silhouette in a period, if not original, frame. The black/gold panel appears to be original. Appears to be by the same hand as the silhouette of “Mr. Foster”. Both came from the same house and have old Sotheby’s labels. Overall dimensions are 5 7/8″ x 4 7/8″, sight size is 4 5/8″ x 3 3/4″. Excellent condition.
